Blue Mars

It was only a question of time when the next generation virtual world would see the light of the (user) day. Blue Mars recently left closed beta status and now started the open beta. Based on the CryEngine from German company Crysis, Blue Mars is currently available for the PC platform.

In the recent time I did collect user feedback, data and own personal experiences, in short: Blue Mars looks promising and has great potential for the future of multimedia and social networks on the private as on the business side.

Like with most new things, there are already complaints concerning Blue Mars; PC only, needs new hardware technologies, etc.
From brain science (and maybe from your own personal experience, too) we know, that the human brain is not per se scared of new things but its afraid to loose old and known things and patterns. I guess when the wheel was invented, they were some around who did complain, that the vehicle is now going too fast...
I highly respect the time and money Avatar Reality did invest in the creation of Blue Mars and yet still in early beta, the user interaction via Glenn Sanders, Community Director, is great.

Now Blue Mars DOES work on a Mac Pro.

My first computer was a Sinclair ZX81 followed by several Ataris, PCs, Macs. Being an Artist, Director, Joiner with Design award, international beta tester in the professional audio world, and much more, my tools have to work to help me to reach my goals. A Japanese saw, Vista-U64SP2 for Pro Audio and BlueMars on a MacPro, OSX/SL for video/FCP/ Shake...
I am a fan of the golden middle way and I will not limit myself or my possibilities just because of something is currently limited to "a" platform.

Apple was clever enough to create Boot camp, a tiny system tool to install a Windows OS on your Mac. Yes, you need to own a eg. Vista Ultimate 64bit license which is a little investment but you add the PC platform to your tools which runs just great on the amazing Mac Pro hardware.

Sometimes, the future is now: See you in Blue Mars.

Es war nur eine Frage der Zeit, wann die nächste Generation von Virtuellen Welten an das (User) Tageslicht kommt. Blue Mars hat neulich den geschlossenen Beta Status verlassen und ist nun in Open Beta. Basierend auf der CryEngine der deutschen Firma Crysis, ist Blue Mars zur Zeit für die PC Plattform verfügbar.

In der letzten Zeit sammelte ich User Feedback, Daten und eigene Erfahrungen, in kurz: Blue Mars sieht vielversprechend aus und hat großes Potential für die Zukunft von Multimedia und Sozialen Netzwerken, auf der privaten, wie auch auf der geschäftlichen Seite.

Wie mit den meisten neuen Dingen, gibt es schon Beschwerden, dass Blue Mars nur für PC sei, neue Hardware Technologien benötigt, etc.

Aus der Gehirnforschung (und vielleicht auch aus eigenen persönlichen Erfahrungen) wissen wir, dass das menschliche Gehirn per se nicht Angst vor neuen Dingen hat, sondern sich davor fürchtet, alte und bekannte Dinge und Muster zu verlieren. Ich kann mir vorstellen, als das Rad erfunden wurde, dass es einige Zeitgenossen gab, denen das Fahrzeug auf einmal zu schnell war...

Mein hoher Respekt gilt Avatar Reality, die sehr viel Zeit und Geld in die Schöpfung von Blue Mars investierten und selbst jetzt schon im frühen beta Stadium ist die User Interaktion via Glenn Sanders als Community Director hervorragend.

Nun, Blue Mars LÄUFT auf einem Mac Pro.

Mein erster Computer war ein Sinclair ZX81, gefolgt von mehreren Ataris, PCs, Macs. Als Künstler, Direktor, Tischler mit Design Auszeichnung, internationaler beta Tester in der professionellen Audio Welt und so einiges mehr – meine Werkzeuge müssen funktionieren und mir dabei helfen meine Ziele zu erreichen. Eine Japanische Säge, Vista Ultimate 64bitSP2 für Pro Audio und Blue Mars auf einem Mac Pro, OSX/ SL für Video/ FCP/ Shake...

Als Fan des goldenen Mittelwegs, limitiere ich weder mich noch meine Möglichkeiten nur dadurch, dass irgendetwas zur Zeit nur auf “einer” Plattform erhältlich ist.

Apple war clever genug um Boot Camp zu erschaffen, ein kleines System Tool, dass ein Windows Betriebssystem auf dem Mac installiert. Ja, man benötigt eine z.B. Vista Ultimate 64bit Lizenz, welche aber eine kleine Investition ist, im Vergleich dazu, die PC Plattform seinen Werkzeugen hinzuzufügen. Windows läuft hervorragend auf der grandiosen Mac Pro Hardware.

Manchmal ist die Zukunft schon jetzt: Man sieht sich in Blue Mars.
